AIxDESIGN is a non-profit community organization of practical radicals making AI work for the rest of us.

AIxDESIGN is a non-profit community organization of practical radicals making AI work for the rest of us.

We do this by bringing people together. From designers to coders, researchers to fine artists, we develop projects that challenge dominant AI narratives, research alternatives, and make them real. We publish openly and gather regularly to empower each other to build our collective, critical AI literacy. Because it takes many hands to build new worlds.

We are (some of) many

The Team

These are the cuties making it all happen on the daily.

No one knows where AI is going, but we aren’t willing to leave it up to those guys.

We couldn’t do this without you.

Our Story (This Far)

Since 2019, we’ve been establishing a third space that sits beyond the techno-utopia vs techno-dystopia extremes.

Since 2019, we’ve been nurturing a third space, one that sits beyond the techno-utopia vs. techno-dystopia extremes.

Since 2019, we’ve been nurturing a third space, one that sits beyond the

techno-utopia vs. techno-dystopia extremes.

We came together through our shared disillusionment with hype vs hate:

  • Stories from big tech companies which frame their products as both an absolute inevitability and a cultish path to salvation.

  • Sensationalist claims about AI replacing humanity or "going rogue”, Terminator-style – tropes that miss the mark and discourage thoughtful people from imagining a better future.

Neither seems helpful to us.

We choose not to align with either extreme and instead practice a third position: one that exists outside the hype-hate binary, acknowledges a plurality of truths around tech and innovation, and centers our agency as imaginative and powerful humans of Earth.

AI is already here, and has been for the last fifty-odd years.

For better or worse, it influences how we live, work, and connect with others every day. What makes a difference is who builds these systems, how they’re deployed, and how people use them.

So we bring people together to figure out how we can make AI work for the rest of us – because while we might not know where AI is going, we aren't willing to leave it up to those guys.
