Introduction

You're sitting on a goldmine of critical AI research. So are we. So is everyone in our networks. So why can't we surface our knowledge when we need it? Skinny Dip is a small, community-governed AI tool that makes collective knowledge *actually* searchable, built with and for those who are done feeding their thinking into Big Tech's black box.

The tool (in the making) → Skinny Dip's first prototype is taking shape right now, seeded with our own Slow AI research corpus. We're designing away from the chat box: an interface for gathering sources, annotating the connections between them, and searching a collection the way researchers actually think - associatively, not linearly. The exact shape is still moving as we prototype and test. Our first success metric: the tool surfaces a connection in our own research we hadn't noticed yet.

  • What's coming → An open-source web app and codebase with full documentation, the community-curated research database behind it, four posts documenting the design decisions along the way, a guide so other communities can run their own version, and public events to test and launch the tool together.
