Prompt Your Person challenges you to write a prompt that captures the essence of your favourite person. It invites you to go beyond visual descriptions to prompt portraits that convey how and why you love them.
Generative AI often creates stereotypical images of people—depicting leaders as men, hyper-sexualized Asian women, aggressive Blacks, or beauty as smooth skin and symmetrical faces. These tropes are not only damaging but fail to reflect how we see our loved ones. Describing someone in purely physical terms overlooks their aura and the deeper, emotional connection we feel to them—the warmth of their hug, the joy of their laugh.

How we did it
This project developed an interactive tool that helps people grasp and subvert the unrealistic perfection of AI-generated images.
The journey included research and the development of an interactive experience, culminating in its presentation at the "Poetics of Prompting" exhibition at MU Hybrid Art House during Dutch Design Week, from October 4 to November 24, 2024.

Prompt Your Person was a successful experiment in critical AI pedagogy, helping thousands of visitors — many new to generative AI — understand the challenges and limitations of generating realistic images of people using generative AI.
